One way to enhance your chances of scoring high-grades in the FRCS(Tr & Orth) Part II Examination is to know important papers in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery. By providing evidence-based answers to justify your treatment plans or to support tackling clinical or technical issues in the day-to-day management of orthopaedic problems, you should be able to cross-compensate in the vivas and clinicals. This one day course is aimed at FRCSOrth trainees and non-training Orthopaedic middle grades who are about to take their Part II examination. It would cover important RCTs, classic papers, problem based evidences for treatment options and part-specific papers in Orthopaedics to quote in the examination. Course Fee: £100 only including lunch. 

 

 

 

 

*FRCSOrthExam Education: One day clinicals

This one day clinical course covers a mixture of interactive lectures to refine the examination technique, clinical examination of patients and mock tests under examination conditions. The candidates sitting the Part II examination immediately following the course will be given preference. The course fee is £250 only including lunch.

This intensive one day viva course covers a mixture of interactive lectures on ‘difficult orthopaedics’, spotter shows, ‘hot-seat’ viva and mock examinations. The course is designed to provide the trainee with a comprehensive update on Basic sciences, Adult pathology, Trauma, Hands & Paediatrics. The candidates sitting the Part II examination immediately following the course will be given preference. The course fee is £200 only including lunch.

 This intensive one day course covers a mixture of interactive lectures and mock vivas on 20 most commonly asked topics on Hands and Paediatric Orthopaedics. All the interactive lectures are prepared with regard to the FRCS(Tr & Orth) Part II Examination needs. The subject matter will be themed on ‘what you must know’! ‘What you should know’!! ‘What you may know’!!! and important relevant papers on Hands and Paeds. *FRCSOrthExam Education: Part I Mock

 The new intercollegiate FRCS (Tr & Orth) examination requires candidates to complete two papers to pass part I, comprising of extended matching questions (EMQs) and multiple choice questions (MCQs). This intensive day course, comprising of two theory mock tests along with discussion on the difficult orthopaedic topics, intended to provide the type of questions likely to be asked in FRCSOrth Part I Examination. All the questions are prepared as per new format by the people who have taken and passed this exam recently. This will be the ideal opportunity to measure the width and depth of your Orthopaedic knowledge and to boost up your confidence to get ready for the real exam. HOW TO GET TO THE GLASGOW ROYAL INFIRMARY

 

Glasgow Royal Infirmary is on

Castle Street

, Glasgow

. If you are on the M8 coming from Glasgow Airport exit at Junction for ‘Townhead, Glasgow’. If you are on the M8 coming from Edinburgh take the exit for “Kirkintilloch” and the Royal Infirmary is there as soon as you exit the motorway and there are plenty of car parks surrounding the hospital, including a new multi storey car park along with 3 pay and display car parks directly opposite the Gatehouse Building.

 

 

 

HOW TO GET TO THE POST-GRADUATE CENTRE, GLASGOW ROYAL INFIRMARY

 

If you enter via the Gatehouse Building reception, get to the basement (lower ground) and head for the link corridor. First entrance on left would be St Mungo’s building. You will see the signs for post-graduate centre here.

 

If you are entering via Queen Elizabeth building, head for the link corridor and go straight along the link corridor and follow the signs for St Mungo’s building. You will see the signs for post-graduate centre.

 

If you are near multi-storey car park, then come downstairs and walk side-lane to mortuary and enter the link corridor. Follow the signs for St Mungo’s building. Here you will see the signs for post-graduate centre.

 

 

HOW TO GET TO THE WESTERN INFIRMARY, GLASGOW

 

From M8 motorway heading towards the City Centre. Exit the M8 at junction 19 sign posted Clydeside Expressway. Take first exit from from Expressway sign posted Finnieston. At traffic light turn right into

to the traffic lights at Argyle Street T - junction. Stay in left lane and turn left on filter onto

HOW TO GET TO SOUTHERN GENERALHOSPITAL, GLASGOW

 

The Walton Conference Centre is easily accessible from all parts of the UK - by road, rail and air.

 

By Air

GlasgowInternational Airport is 5 miles west of the hospital.

Taxi cabs are available from a rank outside the airport. The travelling time from the airport to the Walton Conference Centre, Southern General Hospital is approximately 10 minutes (depending on traffic).

Self drive car hire is available from all the major car hire companies based at GlasgowAirport.

 

By Car

From either the East or West on the M8 Motorway, exit at junction 25, marked "Clyde Tunnel". You will join the Clyde Tunnel approach road, but should exit this at the first slip road, which is signposted for the Southern General Hospital. Turn left when your reach the roundabout on

Govan Road

. You will see the hospital almost immediately on your left.

If you are approaching from the North of the city go through the Clyde Tunnel (A739), in left lane. At tunnel exit take first left - Govan. Proceed to the roundabout. Go around it and double back along

Govan Road

for ¼ mile. Proceed across next roundabout. The Hospital entrance is first on your left. There are plenty of parking places (pay & display) at the site.

 

By Rail

Rail or underground to Govan Road Entrance.
